Mussie's Term Two Reflectionand
In term 2 we learned about surface area, percents and volume .Surface area was easy to me i understand it and i did really well on my test . Next we learned about percents. Percent was kinda hard for me because i didn’t review or go over the stuff that i didn’t get. But at the end I did get it and learned it very well. Also i kinda did struggle on volume because I had a hard time remembering the formula. Next time i’ll be replying to the blogs more often and study hard and pass all of my tests.

Mussie Final Percent Post
1. The front wheel of a tricycle is 155% as large as its rear wheels. Use hundred grids to show how the front wheel compares to the rear wheels.
2. The cost for a downloaded game was $10.99. Added to this cost was a 10% before tax processing fee, 5%GST and 7%PST. What is the total cost of the game?
3. The number of caribou in a particular herd was monitored over a two-year period. The first year, the size of the herd was estimated at 30 000. The second year, the herd was estimated to be 90% of its original size. What was the approximate size of the herd in the second year?
4. What is a better deal:
a) 60% off a pair of shoes
b) 20% off a pair of shoes then a 40% reduction of the discounted price.
Use an example to show that your thinking.

A) a²+c²=b²
24² cm 26² cm=c²
24² cm 26² cm=c²
-576 cm + 676 cm=c²
100 cm=c²
√100 cm=√c²
10cm=cB) a²+c²=b²
39² +15²=c²
1521 + 225 =c²
√1746=√c²
41.78 =c
42 = c
4)What is the length of each hypotenuse, to the nearest centimetre? show your work
A) a²+b ²=c²
8² cm + 9² cm=c²
64 cm +81cm=c²
√145cm =√c²
12.0cm=c
B) a²+b²=c²
6² cm +10² cm=c²
36 cm+100 cm=c²
√136cm²=√c²
11.6 = c
12 = c
12 = c
6) Find the height of triangle with a base of 4 cm and a hypotenuse of 11 cm. Round to the nearest tenth of a centimetre. show your work
a²+b²=c²
-4² cm +11² cm=b²
-16 cm +121cm=b²
√105cm=√b²
b=10.2
b = 10 cm
b = 10 cm

Questions 15-16
15. order the following numbers from the least to greatest: 7, SQRT 46, 5.8, SQRT 27, 6.3
A) SQRT 27 < 5.8 < 6.3 < SQRT 46 < 7
16. Fitness centre will install a square hot tub in a 6 m x 6 m room. They want the tub to fill no more than 75% of the room's area.
A) What is the maximum area of the hot tub?
Area of a square = LxL
= 6 m x 6 m
= 36 m^2
Area of the hot tub :(75/100)(36) = 27 m^2
B) What dimensions, to a tenth of a meter, will the fitness centre order from the manufacturer?
Explain.
They want the hot tub to fill no more than 75% of the room.
so 75% of the room is : (75/100)(36)= 27 m^2
The dimensions are SQRT 27 = 5.196m
L = 5.1 m
L = 5.1 m

Mussie Mesgun Math Profile
Hi, my name is Mussie Mesgun I'm in grade 8 math student. If someone asked me if i like math i would say NO because for me it was really hard and challenging . It was one of the harder subject in grade seven that i hate so much and had hard time understanding . because I wasn't doing all my homework and my tests marks were LOW . But I need to put my head in the game and do way better than last year. Math is important for me in the future so i really do need it and i will work hard this year .
This year im in grade 8, I will be more successful by staying on task and do more blogger and do all of my homework and hand it in on time. Also get as much help until i understand what i'm doing. Also ask more questions. My goals are this year is to get a good mark in math and pass grade eight exam and grade nine exam .Do all my homework on time .
In Grade seven I really liked doing Integers i understand it very well. Also i learned "mean median mode" it was pretty good i understand it and did really good on this unit. It was fun learning how to do "mean median mode" i enjoyed it .
