Our project was on "Poverty In Winnipeg"

The changes we made to make the project better was that we made my slides slower. Katerina noticed herself that she couldn't read the slides because it was too fast. Another thing we improved was the spelling mistakes.and grammar. The student comments helped us a lot because of the things I didn't see like my spelling mistakes.

Our First Draft:

My Final Draft:

We found our expert by calling to Winnipeg Harvest.Our expert we found was Kate Reynolds. Three important facs that Kate Reynolds told us was " There are over 300 agencies across Manitoba " " Half of the children who come for emergency services are under the age 18 "and " Poverty rates in Winnipeg get higher each year. " I learned that By raising money and donating it to Winnipeg Harvest, we can halp FIVE people. I also learned that some people can't get everything they need from Winnipeg harvest My because they have to give an even amount of food/other things to everyone who goes there. I that our greatest success from the two minutes video was learning and understand what being in poverty is like. Poverty honestly doesn't feel great. One skill I will take with me next year is how much we searched for information. We ended up having to leave out a lot of our information.Which really frustrated me! When it came to posting the video we lost a couple of marks because it was late because Katerina accidentally posted it up over and over again. I do believe that this two minutes project is important to grade eight to learn more about good time to learn more about it in the future. From this project learned a lot about poverty and all the bad things that are are still going on today and the different ways we can help!Of course I cant do much now because I'm still a kid,but definetly i will do something in anyway to help.

Krizna's Algerbra Post

VARIABLE: A letter that represents a missing value or number in an equation or an expresstion.
CONSTANT:The integer in a equation or and expression of algerbra
EXPRESSION:Pattern. Many different kinds of answers.
EQUATION:When there is one equation on each side of an equal sign and has only one answer.
How to solve an algerbra question / equation
-isolate the variable
-cancel out the constant (integer)
-balance on each side of the equal sign
-then verify
One Step Equations
Adding
x+4=10
x+4-4=10-4
x=6
x+4=10
6+4=10
10=10

Subtracting
x-15=30
x-15+15=30+15
x=45
x-15=30
(45)-15=30
30=30

Two Step Equations
4x=20
4x/4=20/4
x=5
4x=20

4(5)=20
20=20

5x+5=10
5x+5-5=5-5
x=1
5x+5=10
5(1)+5=10
10=10

Term 2 Reflection AudioBoo

Term 2 Math Reflection

In Term two we learned about percent,total surface area and volume.I did well on the TSA unit in term 2 I struggled in the volume unit because I didn’t practice enough.I think if I read more of the blogs more and learned easier methods I would have been better .The things I learned about percent is finding parts/amounts of certain things.In TSA,we learned how to find the size of different shapes and in volume we earned how space something takes up.

I will upload the audioboo later.

Krizna's Great Big Book of Integers

Chapter 1
This is what we did in class.
We learned how to solve different kinds integer problems,
We learned how to solve it in different ways we can use :

Integer Chips

We learned about zero pairs too,
A zero pair is a number with answer of zero
"when subtracting something that isn't there use a zero pair"

Chapter 2 Multiplying Integers

(+4)x(+2) = 8

Make 4 groups of positive 2

Make 4 groups of negative 2
(+4)x(-2) = -8

(-4)x(+2) = -8 Remove 4 groups from positive 2

Chapter 2

Dividing Integers
Even = When you have a even number of negative factors your product is positive.
Odd = When you have a odd number of negative factors your product is negative.
Partitive Division - when you use groups to find your quotient.
6 ÷ 2 = 3

(-6) ÷ (-2) = 3

Quotative Division - Sharing numbers in groups

(-6) ÷ 2 = - 3

Quotative Division - Sharing numbers in groups

(-6) ÷ 2 = - 3

Chapter 4

Order of Operations

(+6) x (-2) + (-6) ÷ (+2)= ?

1) Always do multiplication and division first
2)
Put square brackets around (+6) x (-2) ex. [(+6) x (-2)]
3)
Put square brackets around (-6) ÷ (+2) ex. [(-6) ÷ (+2)]
4) Solve (-12)+(-3) = + 15

Final Percent Post

Percent means out of 100. percents can be written as a decimal and a fraction. You can use percents to find amounts of a lot of things in real life.

4.1Representing percents

You can represent a percent using a hundred grid

example:1 grid = 100% This grid shows 50%

This can also be written as a fraction and a decimal.

Example:50%=o.5=1/50
4.2 Fractions decimals and percents.

4.2 Fractions,decimals and percents

Fractions and Decimals can be also written as a Percent.
Example. 50% = 1/2, 0.5

4.3
Percent of a number

Using mental math to find the percent of a number.
Example:Multiplying, doubling, or dividing.

You can also find the percent of the number by converting the percent to a decimal and multiplying the number.

4.4 Combining Percents

You can combine percents by adding to solve some problems.

Example: 8%+7%=15%

This is my video post for percents.

Krizna N's Pay It Forward

.

Picture1:Handing out candy canes,Picture2:At United Way,Picture3:Donating for koats for kids.
Samara,Krizna,Olivia
Part 1
An 11 year old boy named Trevor has a troubled family, an alcoholic mother named Arlene, and his father left them. At Trevor's school he has a new teacher named Mr.Simonet. The teacher gives Trevor's class an assignment to think of a simple way to make the world a safer place. Trevor thinks of pay it forward, he does a favor for 3 people and ask them to do the same to other people. Trevor starts by helping a junkie named Jerry, then he tries to get Arlene and Mr.Simonet dating, and lastly he saves his classmate from bullies. One night a journalist that was stuck with no car, he got a car from a stranger asking him to do a favor for someone else, the journalist was surprised.
Part 2
My "pay it forward" act of kindness was to donate old jackets to Koats for kids of United Way at a Fire Department.Then we bought candy canes and gave them to little kids at he mall at Portage Place.We chose this because we felt bad for the kids on Christmas who don't have a warm jacket to play in the snow,and some kids don't get things on christmas so we wanted to give the kids candy canes.We did this today,Saturday ,December ,18,2010.

Part 3
I thought our act of kindness went pretty good because we did alot in just one day.Well,we did alot of walking in the cold and we took 6 buses back and forth to all the places.I felt really good about what I did today.I really feel good that I did just a little but in a big way.Most of the people react normally saying,"Thank You",and there was this one guy who was following us and asking us for a candy cane and he was about 16 yrs old , which was really weird.We asked everyone to pay it forward but none of them asked what it was.

Part 4
I think the idea."pay it forward " was important because we can help in just a little way but it can do so much for just one person.I thought my act of kindness made a difference because we donated jackets for kids who don't have any of them to play in the snow,and we gave candy to kids in the mall at Portage Place,I thought we did a good job.

Krizna' Profile

Hi,my name is Krizna .I am i a student in grade 8.So if someone were to ask me if I liked math I would say sure.Math isn't a subject that i really like but i think its okay.Its not one of my strongest subjects but I don't mind it.the grade that i had the strongest in math was grade 4.Because in grade 4 i used to love doing division.Because i was really good at it.but I think math is okay.

On grade 7 i really liked doing problem solving I,really liked figuring out problems and playing with numbers.But sometimes when its like a multiplying kind of one its kind of hard.Last year was okay I got almost all of my work done.But I think I did well.

I know already that in grade 8 its just going to get harder But I'm looking forward to doing square roots.And i am looking forward to math n grade 9.

I didn't do a post last year because i never got the chance.But I was disappointed because i didn't do one and it was my on fault i got a bad mark.But this year i will try harder to do more posts and get better marks.
