Final Percent Post

1 ) This chapter was all about fractions, decimals and mainly percents. We learned how to represent percents using hundred grids. We learned how to convert decimals, fractions and percents. Then we learned how to find a certain percentage of a number.We also learned how to add taxes such as GST% and PST% to a percent.

What is a percent?
A Percent is a number that is out of 100. It's another name for hundredths. It can be represented on a grid, and it can also be converted into a fraction or decimal.

Representing Percents-
- One completely shaded grid represents 100%
- If half of the grid is shaded, it represents 50%

- Percents can be written as fractions and as decimals.

Percent of a Number-

- You can use mental math strategies such as doubling, halving, and dividing by ten to find the percent of some numbers.
eg.









Combining Percent-

- Percents can be combined by adding to solve problems.
eg. 3 DVD's for 19.99 each. Find the total cost of the DVD's including 5% GST and 6% PST.
