Solving By Inspection
2+n=4
First thing we do is isolate the variable
2+(-2)n=4-2
Now we have to balance the equation, so what ever you do on the right side you do on the other side or vice versa.
so the answer is 2, so we put
n=2.
Next thing you do after you get your answer is to verify your answer
2+n=4
2+(2)= 4
4=4 since their equal that means you got the right answer.

Solving by inspection
2x+1=5
First thing we have do is cancel constant with opposites
2x+1-1=5-1
2x=4
Now, we have to simply the variable to 2x
2x/2=4/2
x=2
After we find the answer, we must verify it.
2x+1=5 2(2)+1=5
(4)+1=5
5=5.
