Percent: In this unit we learned alot of new things about percent. The definition of percent is out of one hundred, it can also be converted to fractions and decimals. We were taught how to convert percents to decimals to fractions, also learning how to combine percents.

Representing Percents:

- you can show percents by using a hundred grid.

- one whole grid equals 100%.

example:

100%

Converting percents to a decimal and fraction:

-percent is out of one hundred

- decimals are out of one

example:

Percent of a number:

-change the percent to a decimal

example:

Combining Percents:

- a good example of when you would combine a percent is when you go shopping.

example: A new laptop came out for $490. What is the total cost with 5% GST and 7% PST?
