a) What are the area of the three squares that can be drawn on the sides of the triangle?

2) The sides of a right triangle is 9cm, 12cm, and 15cm.
a) Sketch a picture of the triangle. Draw a square on each side of a triangle.

Write an additional statement using the areas of the 3 squares.


Answer

1) a) 144cm2=12cmx12cm
256cm2=16cmx16cm
400cm2=20cmx20cm
b) yes this triangle is a right triangle because it has a right angle (90 degrees)

12^2+9^2=15^2
144+81=225
225=225

  2. Jomer, you did a good job. Your information was good, and would easily explain the answers to people who needed to double-check their answers. But... for 1)a, it should be 'what *is* the area of...'. Also, to get the 'squared' sign, use alt+253. Like this: a²+b²=c². Good post.
